Our philosophy
Self-determined work

Good work happens where people can develop. That is why we rely on personal responsibility and trust instead of rigid rules.

You are looking for

You expect a modern employer to let you contribute in a self-determined, meaningful way. You want room to grow, and you want your family situation to have its place.

We offer

Our management sees itself as a coach and sparring partner. That means we create the conditions in which you can deliver your best work. This includes regular training and development as well as flexible working hours and part-time models that fit your current stage of life. Collaboration across generations and the integration of people with disabilities are a matter of course for us.

And your career?

We develop future leaders through our talent management programme. This path often starts with an apprenticeship (IHK), as it always has at SHD. After graduation, our young talents can follow individual development paths up to leadership roles. Our leadership academy completes the programme.

Apprenticeships at SHD
Eyes on the future

School done and looking for an apprenticeship with real prospects? Then do what over 500 apprentices before you did and lay the foundation for your career at SHD. We offer motivated young people attractive apprenticeships and support their development.

Three years that fly by

Training at SHD is as diverse as our business areas. Over 36 months you rotate through different departments and gain a comprehensive insight into the SHD group, helping you find out which tasks really suit you. A personal training supervisor introduces you to your tasks, supports you with advice and accompanies you in regular coaching sessions.

The training plus

With us, you learn more than the mandatory curriculum: business simulation games, an introduction to our ERP systems and project management basics. Depending on your profession, numerous seminars deepen topics such as Microsoft programs, network structures or programming languages, plus English courses, presentation and rhetoric seminars, and essentials like time management and learning techniques. We prepare you for the exams with our own courses and training.

Good to know

  • Requirements: advanced technical college entrance qualification (Fachabitur) or general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur). More important than grades: initiative, team spirit, enthusiasm for IT and communication, and English skills.
  • Start and duration: every year on 1 August, 36 months. Currently over 40 apprentices at SHD.
  • Vocational school: August-Horch-Schule Andernach or Ludwig-Erhard-Schule Neuwied, one to two days per week. We provide the textbooks.
  • Qualification and retention: written and oral IHK exam, depending on the profession with your own project. After successful completion, we retain as many apprentices as possible within the SHD group.

IT specialist for data and process analysis

IT specialists in data and process analysis examine existing work and business processes at the IT level, for example to identify optimisation potential or to uncover and eliminate weaknesses. They explore ways to make data-driven processes more efficient, digitalise business processes and automate tasks, and design the corresponding solutions.

This also includes determining the demand for digital information for the respective models and processes, providing this data and making it accessible. At the same time, IT specialists in data and process analysis take measures for IT security and data protection. Big data and machine learning can also be part of the role.

Industrial management assistant

You learn the commercial processes of the company from the ground up: from cost and demand planning through recruitment and customer consulting to order processing and payment transactions.

Stations at SHD (selection):

  • Finance and accounting
  • Human resources
  • Quotation and order processing
  • Sales and marketing
  • Warehouse and logistics
Dual study programme

Want more? We support high-performing apprentices with a dual study programme parallel to their apprenticeship, for a qualification that goes beyond the apprenticeship degree.

  • Requirement: Abitur or Fachabitur. For SHD to cover the study costs, a grade average of 2.0 in the first year of training is required.
  • Start: from the second year of training (autumn or winter semester).
  • Attendance: study attendance days take place in your free time (Saturdays or Friday evenings). Lecture confirmations and exams are presented to the training company each semester.
  • Shortening: with corresponding performance, the apprenticeship can be shortened from 36 to 30 months. The application goes to the IHK via the training management before the end of the second year.
  • Financing: in stages, based on performance in training, school and studies. Follow-up financing for the remaining semesters (usually the 4th to 6th) is possible as part of permanent employment.
